Rare 152kg giant croaker fish caught in Ctg, sold at auction for Tk1.5 lakh
The fish was being sold in pieces at Tk1,300 per kg

A rare 152-kilogramme giant croaker fish, locally known as Bol Poa, was caught in the net of a fishing vessel in Chattogram.
The five-foot-long fish was purchased from the fishing vessel for Tk1.5 lakh and brought to the Sadarghat fish market in the port city today (26 April).
Mohammad Rubel, a fish trader who bought the fish, told the Business Standard that the fish was caught two days ago in the deep sea. "This morning, it was auctioned off aboard the vessel, and we acquired it by offering the highest bid."
"Such a large Bol Poa is extremely rare. In recent years, only two similar catches were reported — one in Teknaf and another in Kuakata. This deep-sea fish is highly sought after for its delicious taste," he added.
He further mentioned that the fish was being sold in pieces at Tk1,300 per kg. "Till 7pm, we managed to sell around 60kg."
