The Rapid Action Battalion and the Detective Branch of Police are working together to collect evidence of Sunday's rape of a Dhaka University student in the capital's Kurmitola.

A RAB official told The Business Standard, "We found some books, a watch and other evidence in a bush near the Kurmitola Golf Club. Initially, we suspect that this is the crime scene."

"Senior officials have been notified about the findings. They will brief the media."

Protest at Dhaka University over rape of a student

On Sunday afternoon, the victim, a second-year student of Dhaka University, was picked up by an unidentified man after she had got down from a bus in Kurmitola and then was taken to a place, where she was raped and tortured.

She made it to the Kurmitola General Hospital by herself after the incident.

She was admitted to the gynaecology ward of Kurmitola General Hospital around 1am and then was shifted to the One-stop Crisis Centre of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
