Ramisa laid to rest beside grandparents at family graveyard in Munshiganj

The burial of seven-year-old Ramisa Akter, who was raped and murdered in the capital's Pallabi area was completed in Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan last night (20 May).
After the namaz-e-janaza, held at around 9:30pm, she was buried beside her grandparents' graves at the family graveyard in Mollabari village of Madhyam Shialdi under Ichhapura union of the upazila.
Earlier, at around 8pm, her body was brought from Dhaka to her village home by ambulance.
A deeply heartbreaking scene unfolded as the body arrived in the village, with relatives and local residents breaking down in tears. The entire area was engulfed in mourning.
Earlier on Tuesday (19 May), police recovered Ramisa's dismembered body from a rented flat on the third floor of House 39, Road 7, Block B, Section 11 of the Pallabi area in Mirpur-11.
Authorities said the child's head had been severed after the killing and was later found inside a bathroom, while the main body was recovered from beneath a bed.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the main accused, Sohel Rana, gave a confessional statement before a Dhaka court, admitting to the rape and murder of the seven-year-old.
In the same case, his wife, Swapna Khatun, 26, has been sent to jail custody.
