Railway ticket scalping: RAB arrests 8 including ringleader
During the operation, RAB seized 12 mobile phones and over Tk3 lakh in cash from the arrested individuals

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested eight individuals, including the ringleader of a railway ticket black marketing syndicate, from Dhaka's Airport and Kamalapur railway stations.
RAB-1 Deputy Commander Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Jakiul Karim provided details of the arrests today (25 March).
According to RAB, an operational team from RAB-1 set up a trap in the Airport Railway Station area to catch those involved in the illegal ticket scalping.
The first suspect to fall into the trap was Uttam Chandra Das, 34. He was caught with a printed copy of an online railway ticket, said Jakiul.
Based on information he provided during questioning, RAB later arrested seven more individuals — Habib Ahmed, 26, Md Faruk, 55, Md Jubayer, 29, Sohel Rana, 21, Abdullah Al Mumin, 30, Prakash Chandra Roy, 34, and Kamruzzaman, 35.
According to RAB, Uttam is a key player in the railway ticket black marketing syndicate, illegally selling around 500-700 tickets each Eid season. He has admitted to earning around Tk3-4 lakh per season through this illegal trade.
Additionally, police records show that Uttam already has four cases filed against him for similar offences.
During the operation, RAB seized 12 mobile phones and over Tk3 lakh in cash from the arrested individuals.
A forensic analysis of their mobile devices confirmed their direct involvement in ticket black marketing. Legal proceedings are underway against the arrested suspects, said RAB official Jakiul.
