Quader urges transport workers not to cause sufferings to people

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today urged transport owners and workers not to create an unstable situation in the name of strike as it causes immense sufferings to the people.

"Transport owners and workers should not enforce such strike as it causes immense sufferings for the people of the country," he said while addressing the triennial council of Noakhali district unit of Awami League (AL) as the chief guest at Shahid Bhulu stadium of the district.

The Road Transport Act-2018 has been enacted to bring back discipline on roads rather punishing people, he said.

Being failed to do anything on the onion issue, now a vested quarter is hatching conspiracy over the transport laws, Quader said, adding:"I am requesting transport owners and workers not to wage any movement to punish city dwellers."

About BNP, he said due to negative politics, they (BNP) are now losing all their strong holds or bases, adding that they are now placing complaints to foreign countries.

"They are seeking and begging loyalty roaming abroad. But it will not work as our (AL) source of power is people. Any kind of provocation will not bring any lucrative thing for them (BNP)," he added.

"Following facing horrible defeat in the last polls, BNP is now hatching conspiracies against the government…BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is leading those conspiracies staying abroad," Quader, also the AL General Secretary of the ruling AL, continued.

The country has witnessed massive development under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding "She is one of the 10 most influential statesmen in the world."

"Our premier's integrity, hard work and commitment are the key to her success, the minister said.

The council was addressed, among others, by Awami League Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretary and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy Minister for Water Resources Enamul Haque Shamim, AL leader Mirza Azam and AL Noakhali district unit general secretary Ekramul Karim Chowdhury.

Earlier, Quader inaugurated the council by hoisting national flag and releasing pigeons as well as balloons.

Noakhali district AL President Professor Khairul Anam Selim presided over the programme.

President of Sadar Upazila Awami League Advocate Shihabuddin Shaheen and Municipality unit President Abdul Wadud Pintu jointly conducted the council.
