Public Security, Security Services divisions merged back into home ministry
This merger was made under the authority of the Rules of Business

The government has merged the two division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, reversing a 2017 decision to split them.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification today (3 September), confirming the merger of the Public Security Division and the Security Services Division.
This merger was made under the authority of the Rules of Business.
The two departments were originally created in 2017 by the then-Awami League government.
The current move follows a directive issued in November 2024 by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to merge the two entities. The proposal was recently approved by the Secretaries Committee on Administrative Development.
