Protests over Hadi killing paralyse traffic in Gazipur–Tongi road for 3hrs
Meanwhile, a separate protest was also underway at the BNS Centre area in Uttara
Traffic movement along the Gazipur Chourasta and Tongi College Gate areas remained suspended for around three hours today (28 December) due to protests demanding justice for the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Activists of the platform blocked key roads in the Tongi area from the afternoon, causing severe traffic congestion.
"Due to the protests, traffic congestion spread across a large stretch from Uttara to Gazipur's Board Bazar," said Amrita Sutradhar, additional deputy commissioner (traffic) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.
She added that the roads were finally cleared and traffic movement resumed around 6pm.
Meanwhile, a separate protest was also underway at the BNS Centre area in Uttara, said Saddam Hossain, assistant commissioner of DMP's Uttara zone.
