75 arrested across Bangladesh over vandalism, looting during pro-Gaza protests

At least 75 individuals have been arrested in multiple cities across Bangladesh in connection with incidents of vandalism and looting at business establishments during recent protests against the Israeli onslaught on Gaza.
On Monday, protest rallies were brought out in different areas of the country to express solidarity with the Global Strike for Gaza.
However, the protests turned violent when mobs started attacking various shops and businesses, including outlets of Bata and fast food restaurant chains KFC and Domino's Pizza, in Sylhet, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, and Cumilla, among other areas, over their alleged ties to Israel.
The attackers ransacked stores, damaged furniture and electronics, particularly at KFC outlets, and looted items including shoes from Bata stores.
Police headquarters said the arrests took place between Monday and 9am Tuesday. Among those detained, 36 were arrested in Khulna, 19 in Sylhet, 5 in Chattogram, 4 each in Gazipur and Narayanganj, 3 in Cumilla, and 4 in Cox's Bazar.
A total of nine cases have been filed in connection with the incidents, according to the police. However, the Chief Adviser's office stated that ten cases have been lodged so far.
"Further investigations are underway, and additional cases are in the process of being filed against those responsible for these reprehensible acts," reads a Facebook post of the CA office.
