Prisoner arrested during joint forces' op dies at Jashore Jail hospital
Abid Ahmed, jailer of Jashore Central Jail, said when Ujjal was sent to the jail at around 9pm yesterday, he fell unwell as he had been subjected to mob assault.
A prisoner who was arrested on 4 December during a joint forces' operation in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore district died at Jashore Central Jail hospital yesterday (5 December).
The deceased was identified as Ujjal Biswas, 39, son of Najir Biswas of Altapole in Keshabpur upazila.
Abid Ahmed, jailer of Jashore Central Jail, said when Ujjal was sent to the jail at around 9pm yesterday, he fell unwell as he had been subjected to mob assault.
Later, he was shifted to the jail's hospital and at around 10:30pm, Ujjal's condition deteriorated further. He was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment at Jashore General Hospital at around 10:45pm.
The body bore several injury marks, he said.
During a Joint Forces' operation, law enforcers arrested four people including Ujjal along with arms, sharp weapons and drugs on 4 December from Keshabpur upazila, said police.
Three separate cases were filed in this connection. He was sent to court yesterday.
