The Jamaat chief has previously also stated that women in workplaces will work five hours, a proposal that sparked widespread criticism and backlash.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has proposed that women in workplaces will work five hours but receive pay for eight hours, with employers paying for five hours and the government covering the remaining three.
"If elected, there will be no need for you to come to me. I will personally come and resolve your issues based on priority," Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said while speaking at a rally organised by his supporter group in Mirpur-Kafrul (Dhaka-15) at Islami Bank Model School and College ground yesterday evening (10 November).
"Women in the workplace will work five hours and receive pay equivalent to eight hours. Employers will pay for five hours, while the government will cover three hours' wages. Those engaged in domestic work will be honoured as 'Rotnogorva'. Women who choose to work eight hours will also be recognised and respected," he added.
Shafiqur has previously also stated that women in workplaces will work five hours, a proposal that sparked widespread criticism and backlash.
The Jamaat chief also urged the youth to continue community service, saying, "Young people's work is not yet complete; they must clean waste from all areas of society."
On education, he remarked, "Due to the lack of proper education, Bangladesh faces many problems. If Allah grants us the opportunity to form a government, we will ensure every child receives quality education, transforming a decayed society, Inshallah."
