Want to launch movement with countrymen to establish voting rights, CEC says

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said he wants to launch a movement alongside people of the country not only for voting but also to establish voting rights.
"Just as you guard your land, you should also guard your voting centres. If necessary, everyone must guard the polling centres to ensure a fair election," he said this afternoon while speaking at an event in Kutubdia, Cox's Bazar.
"We want to organise a voting festival where people can celebrate their vote like they celebrate the joy of Eid."
Addressing the people, he said, "Earlier, you didn't get cooperation from the administration as expected, but this time you will. We want a fair, impartial, and flawless election."
The CEC further stated that the Election Commission will not operate under anyone's command, nor will it follow the government's demands.
"It will operate strictly according to the law and the power it grants. We do not work for anyone's benefit, and we will not. This is our commitment."
The event was attended by the upazila nirbahi officer, assistant commissioner (Land), heads of various schools and colleges, and officials from various government departments.
