Unity key to protecting democracy, division only helps authoritarian forces: BNP’s Zahid
“Those who fought for democracy will not follow the politics of division. Join the politics of unity. Try to understand the people’s voice and give them responsibility,” he said.

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain has said division will only strengthen authoritarian forces, urging everyone to stay united to protect democracy.
Responding to questions from journalists on Ducsu and Jucsu elections after laying floral wreaths at Ziaur Rahman's grave today (12 September), the senior BNP leader said, "As you can see, questions are being raised about student council elections at universities."
"Yesterday's (11 September) Jucsu election was not only about student parties. Various panels and independent candidates withdrew from the race, while some teachers even quit their election duties. There must be reasons behind this," he added.
He called on everyone to stay united. "Those who fought for democracy will not follow the politics of division. Join the politics of unity. Try to understand the people's voice and give them responsibility," he said.
He continued, "Many conspiracies are being hatched to hold back Bangladesh, threaten its democracy and undermine the democratic system. Both the ousted dictator and anti-state forces are secretly uniting to stop Bangladesh from following the democratic path. The country must protect its reputation as a moderate democratic nation in the world."
