Tarique's adviser dismisses Jamaat's claims of BNP-India deal as political ploy or ignorance
Mahdi said Taher could not provide any evidence to support his claim and will not be able to do so, as the information cited in the media has no basis in reality.
Mahdi Amin, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman's adviser, has said a recent claim made by Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher about an alleged BNP deal with India is either a political ploy or a result of ignorance.
Mahdi, who is also spokesperson for the BNP's Election Steering Committee, made the remarks today (24 January) during a press conference, when asked about Taher's statement that Tarique has signed three agreements with India.
He added that Taher could not provide any evidence to support his claim and will not be able to do so, as the information cited in the media has no basis in reality.
Calling the claim either a political tactic to create controversy or misinformation, Mahdi said whatever is being said about a BNP deal with India is entirely propaganda.
He added that under the leadership of Tarique, BNP politics always prioritise Bangladesh.
The party focuses on the country's interests, sovereignty and the power of the people, Mahdi said.
He highlighted that the BNP has organised programmes and rallies to ensure fair water distribution along the Teesta River.
