Bogura-6: Tarique Rahman gets 'sheaf of paddy' symbol
On behalf of the BNP chief, Bogura district unit President Rezaul Karim Badsha received the electoral symbol.
BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has been allocated the "sheaf of paddy" as the electoral symbol to contest the 13th national election from the Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency.
The symbol was formally handed over by the district's Returning Officer and Bogura Deputy Commissioner Md Toufiqul Rahman around 11:30am today (21 January). On behalf of Tarique, Bogura District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha received the symbol.
A total of five valid candidates in the Bogura-6 constituency have been allocated symbols.
Abdullah Al Waki of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal received the plough symbol; Abu Numan Md Mamunur Rashid of Islami Andolan Bangladesh was allotted the hand fan symbol; Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abidur Rahman Sohel received the scales symbol; and Dilruba Nuri, nominated by the Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, was allocated the ladder symbol.
Earlier in the day, around 10am, the symbol allocation programme for all seven parliamentary constituencies in Bogura district was held at the district administration's conference room.
According to the returning officer's office, Bogura district has a total of 2,981,940 voters. Of them, 454,043 voters are registered in the Bogura Sadar constituency, including 222,796 male voters, 231,237 female voters, and 10 voters from the hijra community.
