Struggle must continue until justice prevails in Bangladesh: Tarique Rahman

The struggle must continue until justice and the rule of law are established in Bangladesh, BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman said today (5 July).
In a statement on the occasion of the holy Ashura, Tarique claimed that the last 16 years under the "fallen fascist Awami government" have been marked by sham elections, rigging votes, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, widespread violence, and rampant corruption, including money laundering abroad.
He further said, "BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was unjustly imprisoned based on fabricated cases and deprived of proper medical treatment, putting her life at risk."
He likened the repression of opposition leaders and activists to the tyranny of Yazid's forces, adding that the brutal crackdown by fugitive Awami League leaders mirrors historical oppression.
