Two detained over suspicious movement near Tarique Rahman's Gulshan residence
They were later shown arrested under the DMP Ordinance, police say
Police, in coordination with the BNP's Chairperson Security Force (CSF), detained two individuals from the vicinity of BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman's residence in Gulshan today (4 January).
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Md Al Amin Hossain of the Gulshan zone under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) told The Business Standard that two individuals were detained on suspicion and were later shown arrested under the DMP Ordinance.
They were produced before a Dhaka court, he said.
"One of the detainees is a member of Elite Force – a security guard company – while the other is a civilian. Cannabis was recovered from one of them," he said.
The detainees are Md Ruhul Amin, 46, and Md Omar Faruk.
According to CSF sources, police were alerted in the morning after a person was seen moving suspiciously and in an uncoordinated manner near the residence of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Police sources said one of the suspects was seen photographing the house and nearby vehicles from multiple angles, prompting security personnel to intervene and detain him for questioning.
