Shooting of BNP candidate Ershad an attempt to disrupt election: Amir Khasru
BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has condemned the shooting of the party's Chattogram-8 candidate Ershad Ullah, saying the attack appears to be an attempt to obstruct the national election.
In a statement sent to the media on Wednesday (5 November) night, Khasru said, "It is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to keep armed criminals under control. Such incidents are both condemnable and alarming. Those trying to destabilise politics and disrupt the election may be behind this attack."
Khasru demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack.

Earlier in the evening, Ershad Ullah, convener of Chattogram city BNP and candidate for Chattogram-8 constituency, was shot while campaigning in the Bayezid Bostami area this evening (5 November).
