Reform should be based on people's opinion: Amir Khasru
“We have to go to the people with the 31-point reform proposals. If the people support and accept the 31-point reform agenda and vote for us, then we will take the necessary initiative to implement those”, Khasru said

Reform is not an issue of any individual or group, rather reform should be done on the basis of the opinion of the people, BNP's National Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said today (21 February).
"BNP's 31-point proposals did not fall from the sky. The proposals have been formulated on the consensus of all political parties, which had struggled and launched movement jointly on the street with BNP during the last 15 years", Amir Khasru said while speaking as chief guest at a discussion marking International Mother Language Day at Amar Ekushey book fair this afternoon.
The month-long book fair is being held on the Stadium Gymnasium premises. Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has organised the fair.
"We have to go to the people with the 31-point reform proposals. If the people support and accept the 31-point reform agenda and vote for us, then we will take the necessary initiative to implement those", Khasru added.
He said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia had also announced Vision-2030 six years back which contained many time-befitting reform concepts for the nation.
"There was a lot of discussion, we had a lot of debate within us and many changes were made in formulating the 31-point reform proposals. Then, based on consensus, we formulated 31-point reform proposals," he stated.
He said if BNP is able to win in the upcoming election, all the parties which were with us in the struggle against dictatorship and dreamt of establishing a New Bangladesh, will jointly implement the reform proposals by forming a national government.
"BNP will not alone execute the reform programmes; rather BNP will jointly implement the reforms by forming a national government. We are committed to the nation for this", he said.
Amir Khasru said, "We do not say that the 31-point proposals will be implemented exactly, it will also be discussed in parliament. We want to bring back the democratic trend in the country to reflect people's expectations by eradicating all the mistakes and errors of the past."
"School and college students had to suffer a lot as they were forced to read and learn previous regime's philosophies and thoughts through the curriculum. If someone had expressed different opinions and paths through their writings, they would have been the victims of false cases and faced several intimidations," he added.
City Mayor Shahadat Hossain presided over the function while former Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, BNP's Divisional Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, Sramik Dal leader A M Nazim Uddin, Ctg Divisional Joint Organizing Secretary Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, BNP city unit Convener Ershad Ullah, Chattogram South District BNP Convener Alhaj Md. Idris Mia, its Member Secretary Lion Mohammad Helal, among others, addressed the function.
