People’s expectations still unmet even after 54 years of independence: Shafiqur
“Despite standing at the threshold of the people’s enormous aspirations, it can still be said that the full ambition of independence has not been realised”
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Member of Parliament Shafiqur Rahman has said even after 54 years of independence, the expectations of the people have not been fulfilled.
"Despite standing at the threshold of the people's enormous aspirations, it can still be said that the full ambition of independence has not been realised," he said in the Parliament today (31 March).
Shafiqur added, "Many governments have come and gone since independence. However, state-building according to the people's expectations has still not been fully achieved."
He further said that the aspiration of July was to build a Bangladesh based on justice and equality.
"With this goal in mind, the interim government proposed reforms after consulting the major political parties and formed a National Consensus Commission, based on which the president issued an order," Shafiqur said.
