People do not believe February elections will happen, says JaPa's Anisul
He has criticised the government’s repeated assurances that the upcoming elections will be the 'best, most acceptable, impartial, free, and fair in history'

Jatiyo Party's new faction's Chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud has expressed widespread skepticism over the feasibility of holding national elections in February.
Speaking at the central representative meeting of Jatiyo Jubo Sanghoti at Howlader Tower today (11 October), he criticised the government's repeated assurances that the upcoming elections would be the "best, most acceptable, impartial, free, and fair in history."
He pointed out that the government's information adviser has claimed all administrative posts are controlled by BNP and Jamaat, casting serious doubts on the neutrality of the administration.
"Not even a child believes that elections can be free and fair under such a biased administration," he said.
Anisul added that in meetings across the country, prominent figures, including politicians, frequently ask him whether elections will actually be held in February.
"The very nature of the question shows the doubt people have," he noted.
General people are also questioning the possibility of elections, reflecting deep public skepticism, he added.
Highlighting the "deteriorating" law and order, he said, "Mob terrorism, killings, and public shootings are rampant, with police frequently recovering unidentified bodies. In such an environment, talking about free and fair elections is ridiculous."
At the meeting, Jatiyo Party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader echoed these concerns, criticising the chief adviser "for ignoring human rights violations, extortion, rape, and illegal land grabs in the country."
He urged the chief adviser to act responsibly, warning that failing to address these issues could cement his place in history as a failed ruler.
The meeting was chaired by Jatiyo Jubo Sanghoti Convener Fakhrul Ahsan Shahzada.
