Two students of the University of Chittagong have come out as the president and secretary of the university's Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir unit.

In a press statement issued today (24 September), CU Islamic Studies Department student Nahidul Islam and Marketing Department student Mohammad Ibrahim identified themselves as the Shibir's CU unit president and secretary, respectively.

The full committee of the Shibir's CU unit will be announced soon, Nahidul, 2016-17 academic year student, told The Business Standard confirming the authenticity of the press statement.

The development comes just days after Dhaka University students Shadik Kayem and SM Farhad revealed their identities as the university's Chhatrashibir unit president and secretary, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the press statement, CU's Nahidul and Ibrahim also presented a 24-point demand.

"We have presented a 24-point demand, in line with the spirit of the 2024 revolution, to the administration of University of Chittagong on 24 September. Hopefully, the university administration will meet our reasonable demands soon. We will release the names of the full committee soon," said Nahidul.

In the statement, the CU Shibir president and secretary said they expect that the new administration of the university will present a campus free of "teachers' anger" and corruption, and ensure students' rights and freedom of speech.

"The time has come to put an end to all the injustices and irregularities in universities that became the norm during the fascist era. Hence, on behalf of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Chittagong University unit, we are raising our 24-point demands to uphold the mass uprising of '24," added the press statement.
