New French envoy calls on Fakhrul, discusses strengthening bilateral ties
Discussions reportedly focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship, as well as critical issues such as democracy, human rights, and the current political situation
The newly appointed ambassador of France to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, paid a courtesy call on BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today (13 November).
The meeting took place at the BNP chairperson's office in Dhaka's Gulshan around 12pm.
During the courtesy meeting, discussions reportedly focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship, as well as critical issues such as democracy, human rights, and the current political situation in Bangladesh.
Key BNP leaders who attended the meeting included Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, standing committee member and member of the party chairperson's Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee; Humayun Kabir, international affairs adviser and joint secretary general; and Shama Obaid, organising secretary and member of the Chairperson's Special Associate Advisory Committee on Foreign Policy.
