NCP’s Tasnim Jara turns to voters for campaign funds, raises Tk23 lakh in 14 hours
'We are overwhelmed by your unimaginable response and love,' says Dr Tasnim Jara.
Dr Tasnim Jara, an aspiring candidate for Dhaka-9 and senior joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has raised more than Tk23 lakh within just 14 hours of calling for donations for her election campaign.
She disclosed the information in a post on Facebook at around 1pm today (23 December), saying the amount, Tk23.68 lakh, is more than half of her fundraising target.
"We are overwhelmed by your unimaginable response and love," she wrote, adding that the target amount is Tk46,93,580 and that fundraising will stop once the goal is reached.
She also shared an urgent update, saying the designated mobile financial service reached its transaction limit at 2am today.
Those wishing to donate but facing issues due to the limit were requested to send contributions to the designated bank account instead.
Tasnim said she has pledged from the outset that the fundraising will be conducted with full transparency and outlined several measures to ensure this.
She said donations are being accepted only through MFS and bank transfers, not in cash, so that every transaction is recorded and regulated by Bangladesh Bank rather than by her campaign team, making the records verifiable in the future.
The NCP leader added that supporters are being regularly informed about the total amount raised and the sources of the funds, and that all relevant documents will be submitted to the Election Commission for verification.
She said the campaign will clearly disclose how much money will be spent in each sector and welcomed additional suggestions from supporters to further ensure transparency.
