National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser Nasiruddin Patwari today (30 October) urged the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami not to create panic among the public over the proposed referendum.
Instead, he advised the party to focus on resolving differences through a note of dissent and to raise their demands regarding how Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will issue the directive at the Shaheed Minar.
He made the remarks this evening while speaking at a discussion titled "Implementation of the July Charter and the Future Course of the National Election" organised by Jatiya JuboShokti at Banglamotor in the capital.
Patwari said, "Jamaat has raised the demand for a referendum before the lower house session and is trying to bargain for a few seats — this is sheer hypocrisy. So, new opportunities are emerging for our NCP, and we are working towards realizing those possibilities. You are witnessing everything; you will judge for yourselves."
He further added, "Across the country, false allegations have been made against us — that we have earned millions, built houses, and bought cars. But where are those things?"
