Narrative established that those criticise India are backward: Rizvi
This mindset has been deliberately cultivated, he says

A mindset has been created in a planned way in Bangladesh that if someone says something against India, they are considered backward, not modern or progressive, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said today (13 May).
"This mindset has been deliberately cultivated," he said at a roundtable organised on the occasion of a mass procession to commemorate the Maulana Bhashani Farakka Long March under the initiative of the International Farakka Committee at Jatiya Press Club.
Rizvi also criticised Sheikh Hasina's decision to proceed with the Rampal power plant project, saying she surrendered to Delhi's wishes and refused to reconsider. "She was so devoted to the Rampal project that she didn't step back from it. Now the effects are visible.
"The plant's waste is polluting rivers, and day by day, their condition is worsening. As a whole, we are heading toward a devastating environmental disaster," he added.
Noting that BNP has always been vocal against any aggression in the national interest, Rizvi said Bhashani, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman were vocal against any aggression in the national interest.
"Sheikh Mujib was informed about the commissioning of the Farakka Barrage that it would be commissioned on an experimental basis. Then Sheikh Mujib gave permission. The disaster was done that day. After that, they (India) did not feel the need to talk to Bangladesh," he said.
BNP Standing Committee member Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed also spoke.
