BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent folk singer Farida Parveen.
"The death of the country's renowned folk singer Farida Parveen caused an irreparable loss to the country's music arena," he said in a condolence message at midnight (14 September).
Bangladesh's legendary Lalongeeti singer Farida Parveen has long captivated music lovers with the magic of Baul songs, Fakhrul said, adding, "The songs sung in her voice will fascinate music lovers for a long time."
In addition to Lalon Geeti, the BNP leader said, Farida Parveen had won the love of countless people by singing various songs during her artistic career.
"Her death has created a huge void in the world of folk music and culture," he added.
The BNP leader prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Farida Parveen and conveyed deep sympathy to her bereaved family members, relatives, followers and well-wishers.
Farida Parveen breathed her last at a private hospital last night at the age of 71.
