Mamunul Haque declares Tk1.67cr assets; faces three pending cases
Mamunul Haque, ameer of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, has submitted his affidavit to contest the upcoming parliamentary election from Dhaka-13, which comprises the Mohammadpur area.
According to the affidavit, published on the Election Commission website, the 53-year-old candidate, who mentioned teaching as his profession, reported total assets worth Tk1.67 crore in his tax return for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Mamunul reported an annual income of Tk13.15 lakh, including Tk6,58,444 from business and Tk6,56,890 from teaching and consultancy.
His declared movable assets include Tk83,02,837 in cash, Tk1,00,000 in bonds or shares of non-listed companies, and furniture worth Tk2,00,000.
Under immovable assets, he owns non-agricultural land with an acquisition value of Tk81,88,558.
The affidavit shows no outstanding loans or liabilities against the candidate or his family members.
The affidavit reveals that Mamunul is currently facing three criminal cases, including cases filed under the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and various sections of the Penal Code. One of the cases has been stayed by the High Court, while the remaining cases are at the trial and investigation stages.
He also disclosed 38 disposed cases, most of which ended in withdrawals or acquittals by courts in Dhaka, Chattogram and Narayanganj. The charges in those cases included offences under the Special Powers Act, 1974, and the Explosive Substances Act.
