Mahfuj Alam's brother Mahbub of NCP declares Tk1.05cr in movable assets
The affidavit, signed on 28 December, shows that Mahbub’s wealth is largely derived from business activities
Md Mahbub Alam, joint convener of National Citizen Party (NCP) and brother of former information adviser Mahfuj Alam, contesting the parliamentary seat from Lakshmipur-01 (Ramganj), has declared movable assets worth Tk1.05 crore in his election affidavit submitted to the Election Commission (EC).
The affidavit, signed on 28 December, shows that Mahbub's wealth is largely derived from business activities, while he reported no immovable property, liabilities, or criminal cases.
According to the disclosure, made by the EC last night (31 December), Mahbub annually earns Tk15 lakh from business.
His movable assets comprise Tk76 lakh invested as business capital in his capacity as a proprietor, along with company shares worth Tk6.50 lakh in Castlehill Industries Ltd and Tk13.40 lakh in Vertex Tech Ltd.
He also reported bank deposits totalling Tk54,618 held in Bank Asia, BRAC Bank, Prime Bank, and NRBC Bank.
In addition, the affidavit lists gold and jewellery valued at Tk8 lakh, electronics worth Tk50,000, and Tk30,000 in cash.
Notably, the affidavit of Mahbub, who holds a Master of Social Science (MSS) degree, does not list any immovable assets, including agricultural or non-agricultural land, flats, or buildings.
It also states that he has no pending or previous criminal cases and no loans or liabilities, either individually or jointly, with any financial institution.
He also reported paying Tk1.50 lakh in income tax for the 2025-26 assessment year.
