Khilafat Majlis calls for forming neutral govt before election schedule announcement

Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis staged demonstration in the capital today, demanding the formation of a non-partisan, neutral government prior to the announcement of the national election schedule by the Election Commission.
The party's leaders and activists brought out the demonstration procession in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jummah prayers on Friday (10 November).
"The people of the country are currently facing challenges. They want to get their voting rights back. Mere displays of development will not suffice for the government without acknowledging this fundamental right," said Amir of Khilafat Majlis Maulana Abdul Bashit Azad.
Garment workers are being subjected to violence, he said, adding that the marginal increase in their wages falls short.
"The government cannot stop the movement of people's demands by putting political leaders behind bars," he added.
Abdul Bachit also warned that unless the government promptly declares an election under a non-partisan government to address the ongoing crisis, people will persist in staging demonstrations, even at the cost of their lives.
