Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan today (25 May) demanded holding the local government elections before the national parliament polls.

Leaders of the party made the demand while holding a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon.

After the meeting, Khelafat Andolan Ameer Maulana Abu Zafar Qasemi said, "We have held a meeting with the Election Commission. It is a matter of the government to decide when and how the elections will be held. We all know that three elections were held by the fascist government at night. There was no reflection of the people's votes. We want the people of the country to be able to cast their votes."

In the meeting with the EC, an application was submitted to approve the committee of the Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan as a legitimate committee.

A six-member delegation, including party's Secretary General Mufti Fakhrul Islam, participated in the meeting with the EC.
