BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has flown to London to ahead of the high-profile meeting between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman, scheduled for Friday (13 June).
"He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night," Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener Ershad Ullah said during a meeting with journalists in the port city today (11 June).
Khasru was supposed to attend the meeting earlier this morning to discuss the current political situation, but was absent due to his travel plans.
Yesterday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed hope that this meeting could be a turning point in resolving the country's ongoing political crisis.
"The chief adviser has invited our acting chairperson to a meeting. The meeting will be held at the hotel where he [CA Yunus] is staying," he said.
The meeting is set to take place between 9am and 11am London time on Friday, he added.
Yunus has announced that the 13th parliamentary elections will be held on any day in the first half of April 2026. However, the BNP is against the plan and has been demanding for long that the election be held by December this year.
