Journey to restore democracy has begun: Khasru
Outlining the BNP’s promises, Khasru pledged that, if elected, the party would create one crore jobs within 18 months

The journey to restore democracy in Bangladesh has officially begun as the nation moves closer to holding elections, BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said today (6 August).
"We are moving towards democracy. The journey to restore it has started. It's a journey to return the ownership of this country to its people," he said while addressing a pre-gathering of a victory rally of Chattogram BNP at the New Market intersection.
He said, "For the past 16 years, we have faced abandonment, imprisonment, enforced disappearances, and even killings, all in pursuit of this goal. Now, we are progressing toward the elections."
Mentioning that the BNP is now firmly on the path to elections, Khasru said, "People across the country are waiting for the 'sheaf of paddy'. The massive turnout today reflects the people's support for the democratic movement we have launched. We must protect this momentum and remain vigilant so that no force can obstruct our progress."
He warned that certain groups are working against the election process and democracy itself.
Outlining the BNP's promises, Khasru pledged that, if elected, the party would create one crore jobs within 18 months.
"We will provide free primary healthcare for all citizens. We have also committed to reducing the cost of essential goods so that ordinary people can live with dignity," he added.
