Jamaat chief condemns gun attack on Ctg BNP candidate’s campaign, calls for swift justice
One supporter killed, two including BNP candidate injured in the gun attack
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman strongly condemned the attack on the campaign of a BNP candidate in Chattogram today (5 November), which left one supporter dead and two including the candidate injured.
"The incident is highly condemnable," Shafiqur said in a Facebook post tonight.
He also urged a thorough investigation to ensure that the real perpetrators are brought to justice.
The Jamaat chief stressed the importance of vigilance to prevent anyone from exploiting such tragic incidents.
He noted that terrorists and criminals often become more reckless when foul play goes unchecked — a situation that benefits no one.
Earlier in the evening, the BNP's Chattogram-8 constituency candidate Ershad Ullah was injured and a party supporter killed in a gun attack during a campaign event in Chattogram.
The incident occurred while Ershad Ullah was campaigning in the city's Chalitatali area in Bayezid around 5:30pm ahead of the upcoming elections.
