Hefazat, NCP unite on demands for AL’s trial, suspension of its political activities
The meeting also discussed contemporary political issues and ongoing reforms

Top leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh and National Citizen Party (NCP) reached a consensus on the demands for Awami League's trial and suspension of its political activities until the trial concludes.
During a meeting at NCP's office today (9 April), they also emphasised the need for transparency in the prosecution process ahead of elections and proposed declaring Awami League a terrorist organisation.
The discussion was led by Hefazat Secretary General Maulana Sajidur Rahman and NCP Convener Nahid Islam.
The focus of the meeting was on the trial of the Awami League, political reforms, and cases filed against different political parties.
The meeting also discussed contemporary political issues and ongoing reforms, said a press release.
Both Hefazat and NCP agreed on the immediate withdrawal of politically motivated cases against Hefazat-e-Islam and other opposition parties that were filed during a period of alleged political repression.
Mutual proposals for broader reforms were also raised and discussed at the meeting.
Senior leaders of Hefazat and NCP attended the meeting.
