Hefazat leaders meet CA Yunus, seek justice, compensation over Shapla Chattar incident

A delegation of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh leaders met with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus today (26 July) at the state guest house Jamuna.
During the meeting, discussions were held on arranging adequate compensation for those affected by the 2013 Shapla Chattar incident and on the preservation and documentation of all related evidence and information, reads a statement issued by CA's Press Wing.
The Hefazat delegation also raised the issue of an independent investigation into the attacks on their assembly through United Nations mechanisms. The chief adviser was urged to take necessary steps in this regard.
Discussions were also held on the progress on the withdrawal of what Hefazat leaders termed "false cases" filed against their activists and Islamic scholars during the previous government.
Among the Hefazat leaders present were Khulil Ahmed Quraishi, Sajedur Rahman, Jasim Uddin, Mahfuzul Haque, Mohiuddin Rabbani, Mamunul Haque, Ahmad Ali Qasemi, Monir Hossain Qasemi, Azizul Haque Islamabadi, Bashir Ullah, and Kefayetullah Azhari.
Also in attendance were Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, and Industrial Affairs Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan.
