Election roadmap fulfils people's expectations: Moyeen Khan
“I believe that after one and a half decades of struggle and sacrifice by the BNP, we have reached an initial victory in our journey toward democratic transition in Bangladesh,” he says
The announcement of the national election roadmap has fulfilled the long-held expectations of millions across the country, BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan said today (6 August).
Speaking to reporters, in reaction to the government's move to hold elections in February, the BNP leader said, "I believe that after one and a half decades of struggle and sacrifice by the BNP, we have reached an initial victory in our journey toward democratic transition in Bangladesh."
Moyeen also extended congratulations to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus for initiating this crucial step toward restoring democracy.
He added, "We have passed a significant milestone in the struggle for establishing the people's right to vote and a truly democratic state system.
"I hope that with a free and fair election ahead, we will be able to realise the core aspiration of our Liberation War — the restoration of democracy."
