Consensus Commission not meant to impose opinions: Khasru
Amir Khasru also said that if the BNP comes to power, it will create 10 million jobs within 18 months and ensure participatory development instead of large-scale mega projects
BNP Standing Committee member and former commerce minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the National Consensus Commission is attempting to impose its views on the public and politicians.
"The commission was not formed to impose opinions," he said while addressing the Rajshahi Divisional Business Conference 2025 as the chief guest at the Rajshahi Zila Parishad auditorium around 12pm today (1 November).
He urged the commission members to "return to their respective professions" and let "citizens decide the country's future."
"The commission is trying to delay the election by forcing its decisions," he said, calling on business leaders to speak out against any attempt to obstruct the polls.
Amir Khasru also said that if the BNP comes to power, it will create 10 million jobs within 18 months and ensure participatory development instead of large-scale mega projects.
He said that his party, if voted to power, will create one crore jobs within 18 months.
He also said that if BNP comes to power, the old-style economy will be changed and a democratic one will be ensured. "So that every individual gets an equal opportunity to participate in economic activities. Investment will be made in small and medium industries. Cottage industries will be made self-sufficient. Opportunities for their own branding will be created.
"Earlier, those who received political patronage did business, but they looted more than they enterprise. BNP will reduce the government's influence on businessmen and reduce bureaucratic control in the business sector," the senior BNP leader added.
