BNP wants to build inclusive, safe Bangladesh for all communities: Tarique

BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman has vowed to build an inclusive and safe Bangladesh by ensuring the rights and dignity of all communities across the country.
"BNP envisions the nation as a 'rainbow' where every community contributes to unity and diversity. The party is committed to building an inclusive and safe Bangladesh where all communities can live together in harmony," he said while virtually addressing a national representatives' gathering of ethnic minorities in Mymensingh today (30 August).

Tarique stressed that his party is committed to protecting the rights of people living both in the plains and the hills, while preserving their languages, cultures, and social values.
"BNP has plans to implement the inclusion of qualified representatives in the national parliament and party committees, establish cultural research institutions for ethnic minorities, grant the Tribal Welfare Association the status of a trust, provide domestic and foreign technical education and training, and facilitate easy loans for women entrepreneurs," he said.
Calling on ethnic communities to remain active in education, employment, and democratic rights, Tarique noted that only awareness and participation can safeguard them from divisive forces.
He also criticised the current quota system in government jobs, saying the process for plainland minorities is unnecessarily complex and time-consuming. "BNP has plans to simplify this recruitment process if the party is elected."
Tarique also urged ethnic communities to stand with the party as they prepares for the upcoming national elections in February, pledging to implement its roadmap for an inclusive Bangladesh.
