BNP expels Manjurul Ahsan Munshi from all positions for violating party principles
The decision follows Munshi’s derogatory remarks against voters in Cumilla’s Debidwar constituency in the early hours today, where he threatened to burn houses if voters supported another political party.
The BNP has expelled its leader Manjurul Ahsan Munshi from all party positions, including his primary membership, over statements and actions that the party said "violated its policies, ideology and organisational discipline".
The party confirmed the matter in a notice signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (10 February).
The decision follows Munshi's derogatory remarks against voters in Cumilla's Debidwar constituency in the early hours today, where he threatened to burn houses if voters supported another political party.
A video of the incident later circulated widely on social media, drawing criticism and prompting the party's disciplinary action.
In the 53-second video, Munshi, a four-time MP from the constituency, is heard saying, "If BNP comes to power and you vote for another party, I will not spare any of you. I will burn your houses to ashes. I am saying this clearly. Do not think that I am trying to intimidate you. You are free to record my words and make them public. I have no objection."
