BNP expels union leader after 'obscene' video goes viral
He was expelled from the party after district leaders said allegations of moral misconduct against him were found to be true.
The Faridpur district unit of the BNP has expelled the organisational secretary of Aliabad union unit of BNP in Faridpur Sadar upazila after a reportedly 'obscene' video featuring him and a woman went viral on social media.
The expulsion order, signed last night (24 July) by district BNP convener Advocate Syed Modarres Ali Isha and member secretary AKM Kibria Swapan, removed Md Obaidur Rahman from all party positions, including his primary membership.
Party leaders and activists have been directed to sever all organisational and party ties with him, according to the order.

The expulsion order stated that the decision was taken after allegations of moral misconduct against Rahman were found to be substantiated.
According to sources, a video of approximately five minutes and 37 seconds featuring Rahman and a woman recently went viral, triggering widespread discussion and criticism locally.
AKM Kibria Swapan confirmed the expulsion to The Business Standard, saying the viral video was reviewed seriously at the party level.
"After confirming the authenticity of the incident, a district BNP meeting on last night unanimously decided to expel him," he said.
"BNP does not tolerate any immoral or party discipline-violating conduct. Whoever engages in activities that damage the party's image will face organisational action," he added.
Obaidur's comments on the matter could not be obtained immediately.
