Not satisfied with talks with CA, Dec cut-off time for election: Fakhrul
Elections have to be held by December, otherwise the country's economic and political situation will worsen, and it will be harder to bring it under control, Fakhrul says

The BNP are not at all satisfied with the interim government's election roadmap of holding polls between December 2025 and June 2026, party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (16 April) in response to a question.
Following a meeting between the BNP delegation and Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, Fakhrul told reporters the BNP had made it clear that the cutoff time for polls was December.
"The CA did not give a deadline; he said polls would be between December-June. We are not satisfied with that," he said.
"Elections have to be held by December, otherwise the country's economic and political situation will worsen, and it will be harder to bring it under control."

On reforms, Fakhrul said they had lent full support to the process so far.
"When all the parties reach a consensus, we agree to make a charter based on those. Then we can move towards the election. The elected political party can turn the reform consensus into reality," he said.

He said given the country's current political situation and state of affairs, a quick election could lead to resolution.
Earlier, Fakhrul, along with Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Khan entered the CA's official residence State Guest House Jamuna at 12pm.
The meeting began at the state guest house Jamuna at 12:10pm, UNB reported quoting BNP Media Cell Member Shairul Kabir Khan.
