BNP delegation leaves for China, Fakhrul to join on 19 April
A BNP delegation has departed for China at the invitation of the Chinese government, with Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expected to join the visit on 19 April.
The delegation left Dhaka at 11:00pm on Tuesday (15 April) from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport aboard a flight operated by China Northern Airlines.
The team is being led by Ismail Jabiullah, a member of the BNP chairperson's advisory council, confirmed by BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.
Although Fakhrul was initially scheduled to lead the delegation, he could not travel with the group as he is currently in Singapore for medical treatment.
The minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives is, however, expected to join the delegation in China on 19 April.
BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and former MP Rasheda Begum Hira were also slated to join the tour but will no longer be participating.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 24 April after completing the visit.
Earlier on 13 April, the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka hosted a dinner in honour of the BNP delegation, attended by Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen.
