The BNP and the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a bilateral meeting today (23 June), at the Great Hall of the People in China.

Li Hongzhong, member of the CPC Politburo and vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, warmly welcomed the BNP delegation.

During the meeting, he formally invited BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman to visit China, according to the BNP Media Cell.

The BNP delegation was led by the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

CPC leader Li Hongzhong expressed optimism that the relationship between the two parties and two countries would deepen and take on new dimensions.

Praising China's positive role in regional politics, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called for the initiative to be made multilateral and broadened.

A high-level delegation of the BNP, led by Fakhrul, is visiting China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

Party sources said China expressed interest in strengthening ties with the BNP, particularly in the context of possible political shifts in Bangladesh following the ouster of the Awami League.

China has previously hosted representatives from the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and other political parties as part of its diplomatic outreach efforts.
