The BNP today (12 December) announced programmes to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day and celebrate the Victory Day with due respect.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programmes at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan Central office after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.

Rizvi said the leaders and activists of BNP will pay homage to martyred intellectuals at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the morning on 14 December, marking the day.

The party will keep the national flag at half-mast and hoist black flags atop its all the offices, including the Nayapaltan central one, on the occasion. 

Besides, he said BNP will arrange a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 2:00pm tomorrow.

Rizvi said BNP will hoist national and party flags atop the party offices in the morning on 16 December, marking the Victory Day.

He said party leaders and activists, led by its senior leaders, will place wreaths at the National Mausoleum at Savar on the day.

Later, the BNP leader said they will place a wreath at the grave of late BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital on the same day.

He said an open music concert will be arranged at the capital's Manik Mia Avenue at 3:00pm on 16 December, marking the Victory Day.

Rizvi said 'Sobar Age Bangladesh' (Bangladesh before all) will organise this concert.

The BNP's Nayapaltan central office and the BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office will be illuminated on the occasion. 

Besides, he said the BNP will hold a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 2:00pm on Sunday (15 December), marking the Victory Day.

BNP's different units and associate bodies will also mark the two days with various programmes across the country.
