BNP announces 10-day programme to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a 10-day programme to mark the upcoming National Revolution and Solidarity Day on 7 November.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at a press briefing after a joint meeting held at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in Dhaka today (2 November).
"As you know, 7 November is the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day. On this day, through the soldiers' and people's uprising, Ziaur Rahman was freed from house arrest. It was a day when the soldiers and the people brought him back to leadership - a day of great importance for us and for the nation," Fakhrul said.
He added that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the day. The joint meeting was presided over by Mirza Fakhrul, with senior leaders from the BNP and its associate bodies in attendance.
Programmes
According to the party, the 10-day programme will run from 5 November to 13 November and includes the following events:
Party flags will be hoisted at the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan and at all district offices across the country at 6am on 7 November.
Later that morning, senior party leaders and activists will place floral wreaths and offer prayers at the grave of former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
In the afternoon, the Dhaka North and South city units will hold a rally in front of the BNP's central office, while similar rallies will take place at district and upazila levels nationwide.
The party's associate and affiliated bodies will also arrange separate programmes, including:
- Sramik Dal: Discussion meeting on 5 November
- Chhatra Dal: Discussion on 8 November; photo exhibition at TSC in Dhaka on 7–8 November
- Ulama Dal: Distribution of educational materials among orphaned students on 9 November
- Tati Dal: Discussion on 10 November
- Krishak Dal: Discussion on 11 November
- Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha: Cultural programme at the Central Shaheed Minar on 13 November evening
- A central discussion meeting will be held at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre on 12 November
Between 6 and 13 November, documentary videos and photographs highlighting the day's historical significance will be released on television, newspapers and online platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.
