Agents of subservient power behind Mitford killing: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that domestic agents of subservient powers were behind recent violent incidents, including the murder near Mitford Hospital, the rape case in Cumilla's Muradnagar, and the death of Dhaka University student Samya.
He made the remarks while speaking at a human chain organised by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units, in front of the National Press Club today (14 July).
"From the rape in Muradnagar to the killing of Chhatra Dal leader Samya at Dhaka University, and the daylight murder near Mitford Hospital, such incidents are being orchestrated by domestic bearers of subservient power," Rizvi said, adding, "Dominant power never supports nationalist forces."

Rizvi also accused certain Islamic organisations of spreading misinformation on social media.
"In Muradnagar, a Hindu girl was raped, and it was falsely claimed that BNP's associate body Jubo Dal was responsible. But the victim's husband said no BNP members were involved. The individuals linked to a local adviser were involved, yet propaganda is being spread in BNP's name."
Referring to the violent incidents in Dhaka University, including the killing of a mentally unstable youth on campus, Rizvi said, "What do these incidents indicate? Samya of Chhatra Dal was killed. Are these not signs of a deeper agenda?"
He further alleged that the situation deteriorated after a recent meeting in London between Chief Adviser Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
"Since then, we have seen demands for elections under a proportional representation (PR) system and claims that no election will be accepted without it. The motive behind such demands is now becoming clear," he said.
Addressing party supporters, Rizvi urged restraint. "Do not react to any provocation. We can counter all propaganda and conspiracies against our Chairman and democracy because the people are with us," he said.
"They are scared. If they had the support of the people, they would not speak of postponing elections or demand a PR system. This is a smokescreen, an attempt to confuse and manipulate the situation," he added.
Rizvi concluded by warning that "the dominant power and its agents are engaged in deep conspiracies" and advised BNP leaders, supporters, and professional organisations to avoid falling into "the trap of fabricated plots".
