Abandon confrontational culture, stop pressuring govt with demands: Charmonai Pir to political parties
The current situation presents a rare opportunity to free the country from systemic crises through principled, legal, institutional, and administrative reforms. he says
Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as Charmonai Pir, has called upon all political parties to move away from confrontational politics and the practice of pressuring the interim government to meet their demands.
Speaking at a meeting with senior party leaders today (23 May), Rezaul Karim said the current situation presents a rare opportunity to free the country from systemic crises through principled, legal, institutional, and administrative reforms.
"This opportunity must not be wasted under any circumstances," he added.
Yesterday, after a scheduled one-hour meeting of the Advisory Council, Yunus held an unscheduled four-hour-long meeting with the five political parties, during which the IAB leader expressed firm support for the interim government.
Today, addressing Yunus, Rezaul said, "Following the mass uprising, the people of the country have entrusted you with the responsibility of leading the nation with unprecedented and unwavering support.
"Your [Yunus] duty is to honour the blood of the martyrs and the pain of the wounded. You must fulfil the vital responsibility of carrying out reforms. Ignore any pressure, non-cooperation, or obstruction from any party or individual."
Charmonai Pir also urged all state institutions to act within their respective jurisdictions with utmost responsibility and vigilance. "Public also should stay alert, ignore rumours, fulfil their responsibilities, and remain united in the fight against fascism."
