11.6% of youth believe religion-based political party may come to power within 5 years: Survey


According to 11.6% of the country's youth, a religion-based political party could come to power within the next five years.
However, 22.8% believe that such a party will never be able to assume power, says a nationwide survey conducted by the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (Sanem).
The survey, published today (7 July), revealed that 12.2% of young people believe a religion-based political party could come to power within 5 to 10 years.

Meanwhile, 14.1% believe it might happen within 10 to 20 years.
Another 39.3% expressed no opinion on the matter.
The survey was conducted across all divisions of the country and included 2,000 participants aged between 15 and 35.
The survey states, among male respondents, 40% said they would vote for BNP, 22.21% for Jamaat-e-Islami, and 14.44% for the NCP.
Among female participants, 37.03% said they would vote for BNP, 20.57% for Jamaat, and 17.47% for the NCP.
