PM visits graves of parents, brother after Eid prayers
The Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman, arrived at the graveyard at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 8:38am after the Eid congregation.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (28 May) visited the graves of his father, late President Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, after offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the National Eidgah.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman, arrived at the graveyard at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 8:38am after the Eid congregation.
Tarique Rahman and his wife first visited the graves privately, offered Fateha, and joined a munajat there.
Later, the prime minister, also BNP chairman, joined party leaders in offering Fateha and taking part in a special munajat.
He also placed floral wreaths at the graves along with party leaders.
BNP Standing Committee member and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed; Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain; Prime Minister's Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi; Defense Adviser AKM Shamsul Islam; State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam; Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Safiqul Islam Khan; and lawmaker SM Jahangir, among others, were present.
Later, the Prime Minister visited the grave of his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko at Banani graveyard, where he offered Fateha and a munajat.
