PM arrives in Bogura on first visit since taking office
He began the journey at 6:10am from his Gulshan Avenue residence, accompanied by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in his home district of Bogura today (20 April) for the first time since assuming office, with a series of development programmes scheduled during the visit.
He left his residence in Dhaka by road, accompanied by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, and reached the Circuit House in Bogura town at 9:55am.
PM's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said that the prime minister is travelling by bus with his entourage.
According to the itinerary, the prime minister is set to inaugurate the e-bail bond service at the Bogura District Judge's Court at 11am. He will also unveil the plaque of the Bogura City Corporation and formally announce the commencement of its operations.
Tarique Rahman inaugurated the measles-rubella vaccination campaign in Gabtoli upazila of Bogura district, with State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhith, MP, also present. The programme was formally launched at around 1:45pm at Ziaur Rahman Rural Hospital in Bagbari.
He is also scheduled to visit his ancestral home before returning to the capital in the afternoon.
At 4pm, the prime minister will attend a rally organised by the Bogura district unit of the BNP as the chief guest.
This is his first visit to Bogura since taking charge as prime minister on 17 February.
His visit has created a festive atmosphere in and around the town, with party activists gathering at key entry points since morning, carrying banners and festoons to catch a glimpse of him.
E-bail bond launched, new Bar Association building unveiled
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stepped out of the Bogura Circuit House on foot, where thousands of leaders and activists greeted him.
At that time, he waved to the crowd, and many tried to shake hands with him. Some welcomed him by showering flowers, while the surroundings became vibrant with slogans.
He walked the short distance from the Circuit House to the Bogura District Judge Court premises. There, he unveiled the plaque of the new Bar Association building and, at around 11:15 am, inaugurated the e-Bail Bond system at the judge court.
Lawyers of the Bogura court and members of law enforcement agencies were present at the time.
After that, the prime minister is scheduled to participate in other planned programs.
